Universal Studios & Amblin Entertainment Take Out New Jurassic Trademark!

Despite everything going on in the world now, the Jurassic franchise still seems to be rolling full steam ahead – with the creative parties behind the franchise working on lots behind the scenes to prepare us for the next phase of the franchise’s lifespan. We’ve already seen reports of Jurassic World Aftermath being trademarked in recent months, but now it looks like something new may be on the horizon – with ‘GENERATION JURASSIC’ trademarked by the company.

Thanks to Josh (@Nublar7 on Twitter) we have the first taste of this new trademark – with him stating that this has been taken out for use in ‘marketing, promotion and advertising for a motion picture franchise’.

Whilst this sounds exciting it is important to note that this does not necessarily mean that this is a new Jurassic project in its own right – but rather, could simply be a marketing campaign. Another good example of this would be the hashtag #JurassicYourWorld, which was originated by and owned by Universal as a key piece of their marketing strategy in the aftermath of Jurassic World Fallen Kingdoms release. Indeed, ‘GENERATION JURASSIC’ could simply be the latest in a long stream of creative campaigns meant to resonate with the community as we approach the launch of Jurassic World Dominion.

It does pose some interesting questions, however. We already know that the original trio are returning for the third Jurassic World outing – suggesting that the Jurassic generations are coming together. There could, perhaps, be some deeper meaning here about how the franchise will transcend the different generations of films moving forwards.

Whichever it ends up being, I think news like this is exciting for us all – as it reminds us that this franchise is continuing to develop and grow, even during these dark times. And who knows – if this is a marketing campaign, then perhaps ‘GENERATION JURASSIC’ refers to us all, and is a nice way of reminding us to stay together as a community during these dark times. Whatever this ends up being, you can bet that we will be here to share more with you as soon as it is unveiled!
