The new year is here and we wanted to take a look at some of the exciting things Jurassic fans have to look forward to in the new year! 2020 is the year Jurassic World 3 moves into full production, so a ton of expectations are on our plates. We also have other hopes and content to look forward to as we move through the new year! Let’s dive into the forecast!
Jurassic World 3 Production In Full Gear
Production for Jurassic World 3 ramps up in February of 2020, so we can expect to learn a lot about this film as production chugs along throughout the year. I think we can safely assume set pics will be revealed and other behind the scenes looks will come out from the production. Hopefully we get a cast photo with the Big Three! (Sam Neill, Laura Dern Jeff Goldblum)
Let’s Get That Jurassic World 3 Title
With the production of Jurassic World 3 seemingly on the same pace as Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, we can safely guess that we’ll get a title for the upcoming film in June of 2020. Jurassic June is a fitting time for the announcement, but of course we’ll take it sooner if they feel like offering it up. Any guesses on what it could be?
Time To Get Excited For Camp Cretaceous
We are finally getting a long awaited television series for the Jurassic franchise, in the shape of Camp Cretaceous! Coming to Netflix in 2020, Dreamworks Animation is bringing us the story of six teenagers stranded during the events of the Jurassic World film. We’ve gotten a short glimpse at the project, but otherwise the information is slim. This will be a BIG deal for Jurassic fans, so it’s about time we hype up this project before it’s release!
Expanded Universe Course Correction
During the course of 2019, the canonical threads of the Jurassic lore came into question, leaving us here at the podcast and fans around the community questioning, “what matters?”. Canon within film culture has become ever-present and important to those who follow the lore as a guide map for the series. With certain elements being deemed “soft canon”, clarity is at an all time low. Before Jurassic World 3 hits in 2021, it would be a blessing for Universal to compile an official guideline of what is and what isn’t canon. Things like Camp Cretaceous and Jurassic World Live Tour would greatly benefit from this. Have confidence in the products and give us a reason to care.
Where Are The Human Figures From Mattel?
Primal Attack is leading the charge for Mattel in 2020, but we’d love to see even more from Jurassic toys throughout the year. Human figures have been missing from the past several waves of Mattel toys. Yes, we got John Hammond, a legendary toy in it’s own right, but there needs to be more. Dinosaur toys don’t mean all that much without food to prey upon. The allure of playing with Jurassic toys as a child was the storylines you could create with the wealth of characters to choose from. Be bold, be daring in the approach. Give us figures with no ties to films - raiders, hunters, trackers, heroes alike. It will give the Jurassic toy fans something to chomp on for years to come.
When Can We Expect A Jurassic World 3 Trailer?
Could we potentially see a trailer for Jurassic World 3 in 2020? We are hoping to see something in either November or December of 2020, in the lead up to the June 2021 release of the film. A full trailer would be asking for a bit too much, but it would be great to see a teaser trailer at some point during the end of the year, for attachment to the holiday 2020 film slate at the box office.
So there you have it! 2020 could be a very big year for Jurassic fans, so let’s all enjoy the content we are given this year and have a blast discussing it! We will be sure to report on the latest news on the podcast and of course discuss it with you on social media! What are you most excited for? Let us know in the comments below!
Happy New Year everyone!
