Fans of the Jurassic World franchise are expecting big changes from the upcoming sequel from Colin Trevorrow and Emily Carmichael – but things may be set to change to a whole new level, if rumors in the wind are to be believed.
After reports came out earlier this month that filming for Jurassic World 3 would begin to take place shortly, we decided to go and trawl the internet for any news we could find relating to the upcoming filming. Following a heads-up from a source that filming may be taking place on Southern European island country of Malta for Jurassic World 3, we were able to track down some news from the archipelago itself which seems to confirm this, with this article from September all but having slipped under the radar for Jurassic fans with news of the big trio returning debuting around the same time.
While there is not much else to go on in terms of the filming taking place in Malta, it is exciting to think that this is a brand-new location where Jurassic has never been before. Recent content shot in Malta include 2016’s Assassin’s Creed and 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, alongside the 2017 film Murder on the Orient Express and HBO’s Game Of Thrones. Malta is famous for beautiful, historical structures and landscapes – and this gets us incredibly excited as we may be about to see Dinosaurs set loose in a much more authentically historic location.
While we don’t want to speculate too much, we are willing to bet that the ending of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has set this change in locale up for the sequel – with the potential of a globe-trotting piece looking more and more likely as we uncover the true fallout of dinosaurs being set lose within the real world. The recent short film, Battle at Big Rock has given us a short tease of what life post-Fallen Kingdom is like and we are certain that Jurassic World 3 will explore this even more.
So, what do you think about the news that Jurassic World 3 will be partly filmed in Malta? What kind of locations do you expect to see featured within the new film? Let us know in the comments below, and stay tuned for more news as we get it, right here on The Jurassic Park Podcast.
