Hey everyone – Tom here today! Hope you’re all doing well.
I recently had an exciting opportunity – I visited the London office for Funko Europe! For those of you who don’t know, Funko Europe are the counterpart to Funko, and they handle all the distribution across Europe – meaning fans in the UK like myself fall under them! If you remember back to when I visited the London Toy Fair, I had the opportunity to meet two lovely people from Funko Europe – Charlotte and Eva.
After Toy Fair passed, I continued to communicate with Charlotte – and she was the person who made bringing reviews on the products to you guys possible! It’s been awesome getting to work alongside her to produce fun Jurassic Park content, so I felt as though a trip to the offices to see what Funko Europe are all about would be a lot of fun. So, I organized with Charlotte, and I headed up yesterday to have a chat in person and learn more about the wonderful world of Funko.
We started off in the show-room – which is what the bulk of the images attached with this article show. It was fantastic getting to see so many unique licenses on show. Honestly, as much as I wanted to remain professional, I did geek out quite a bit. You can see just how vast an array of products Funko make – with the Jurassic Park ones we all know and love making up just a small segment of those products. Charlotte mentioned that on average Funko will have fifty new products in development in any one week – how insane is that?!? It was awesome getting to see not only so many collectibles, but also the diverse amount of homeware that the company produce too.
Following our stay in the showroom, we headed off to another smaller showroom, and then finally a meeting room. Here, we got to record a special Podcast segment which will be releasing very soon. The audio isn’t the best, but we had a wonderful time chatting about Jurassic Park – but also about the company within a wider context. Whilst Charlotte couldn’t answer many of your questions (Uh uh uh, I guess you didn’t say the magic word…) due to confidentiality, she was able to tease us – saying that there may be more Jurassic coming – so that is something to stay tuned for!
Lastly, I got a short tour of the office space – and it is awesome! Literally, and I am not exaggerating, bobble heads as far as the eye can see. It was super cool seeing everyone’s desks filled up with product – and it was nice getting a sense for each person by the products which they opted to have on display. Charlotte, for example, chose to have the Target Exclusive Jeff Goldblum front and centre on her desk – showing her love for Goldblum, Jurassic Park and that Pop! It’s given me some ideas for what I would like to turn my work desk into, that is for sure!
It was a super-awesome day, with lots of cool insight into how Funko Europe work. I’m excited to share the episode with you when it goes live. In the meantime, you can check out an unboxing of a goody bag I was kindly given by Charlotte here:
