In a bit of surprising news for the day, Jurassic World 3 has a release date - June 11th 2021. Such symmetry. Jurassic Park originally debuted June 11th 1993 and almost 30 years later we'll have the potential final installment in the saga. JW3 will be written by Colin Trevorrow and newcomer Emily Carmichael!
Emily Carmichael recently co-wrote the upcoming film Pacific Rim Uprising. Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley are returning to produce along side Executive Producers Steven Spielberg and Colin Trevorrow. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Colin Trevorrow had this to say about the film:
“It’s important to this franchise that we welcome new creative voices to keep our storytelling fresh and alive,” says Trevorrow. “I’m thrilled with the tension and beauty J.A. has brought to Fallen Kingdom, and I know Emily will add another layer of emotion to the concluding chapter of our trilogy.”
We are at a pivotal time in film-making where we have ignored voices of women and minorities for so many years, so it's great to see Universal taking steps to correct those issues in this franchise. Welcome aboard Emily!
