Today marks the release of Jurassic World Evolution 2 – and thanks to the awesome folks over at Frontier Developments, I had a little bit of time to get hands on with the game ahead of its launch to experiment with Capture Mode in the sequel. In this article we’re going to take a look at some of my favourite screenshots I got during the Campaign and Jurassic Park Chaos Theory mode – so do be wary that spoilers are ahead!
The new locations in Jurassic World Evolution 2 add a serious step up to the locations and backdrops which we can position our dinosaurs in. I loved taking the time to experiment with new locations and new areas of the map – including some of the ‘Wild Areas’ in the Campaign missions. These often-had varied backgrounds featuring lots of different vegetation – helping the dinosaurs to feel more natural than ever before. Whilst these are all dinosaurs we saw in the sequel; they feel refined and refreshed in part thanks to the new environments – creating a wonderful opportunity to revisit some of our favourite dinosaurs in the sequel.
The new weather inclusions also mean that we can create some absolutely gorgeous looking shots which make the most of the ambient weather features. From paddocks coated in snow with an Amargasaurus unsure of how to react, to sandstorms looming on the horizon and threatening to plunge a park into chaos, there are lots of opportunities for gorgeous new screenshots which make the most of the inclement weather added to Jurassic World Evolution 2. I had a LOT of fun experimenting with these.
New Dinosaurs also offer new visual treats for us to feast our eyes on in the sequel. I had a lot of fun working out the best ways to shoot different animals – with the new Cryolophosaurus being a surprising star for me. I also loved how both the Aviaries and the Lagoons allowed us to get inside with Capture Mode – allowing us to get up close and personal to some of the newest additions to the game. It’s safe to say that there are lots of beautiful new assets in the game – so it’s great getting up close to them.
That’s it for this article – I could spend ages sharing screenshots from this new game with you, but I wanted to encourage you to get out there and experience it for yourself. It’s a gorgeous game with some wonderful new additions and I hope you all enjoy your time with it if you are picking it up!
